STRAWBERRY MANSION NEIGHBORHOOD ACTION CENTER

Our mission is to rebuild the Strawberry Mansion Community through the empowerment of its residents and to enhance the quality of life by providing services to very low, low, and moderate income residents.

SMNAC has enjoyed a significant growth within the few last years. In the winter of 2007-2008 we were designated as an Energy Coordination Agency, and we have assisted to date more than 5,000 low and very low income residents and clients with their utility bills through the Low Income Energy Heat Program, Crisis, and Utility Emergency Service Fund programs. In addition, we have provided water conservation and weatherization programs to low income homeowners. We recently partnered with Community Ventures on the building of 11 newly constructed properties for low income homeownership. This project not only afforded the opportunity for working families to become homeowners, but also provided construction job opportunities for residents in our community.

Our day to day services include but are not limited to; Information and assistance regarding housing and community related services, Sheriff Sales, and vacant land inquiries, support of community development projects, job opportunities and budget counseling, and a host of referrals, such as Food and furniture vouchers, housing counseling, senior citizens programs, rental assistance programs, just to mention a few.
