JOHN COLTRANE HOUSE PROJECT IN STRAWBERRY MANSION GETS STATE BLIGHT REMEDIATION FUNDS

The John Coltrane House, located at 1511 N. 33rd Street, has been owned for the last 18 years by the Early-Gadson family. During the past 18 years, many projects, including the stabilization of the front of the house, interior repairs and electrical upgrades, were completed to ensure the house would remain a National Historic Landmark for the community to enjoy in perpetuity.

Completed in May 2021, the John Coltrane Museum and Cultural Arts Center site feasibility studyhas won two prestigious local awards. The first, in October, was an Honor Award in the unbuilt planning category from AIA Philadelphia.


In March we learned that the project won the John Gallery Community Action Award for achievement by community organizations from the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia.
